We did it!
31 Days, 30 posts (I missed one day) and a whole lot covered on the topic of writing and publication. This has been a great challenge for me personally as a writer. It’s reiterated my love for the written word, strengthened my understanding of the publishing world, and given me a more narrow focus as I move forward in my career. Be on the lookout for some changes that are coming. Exciting things!
On our last day together in this series, I want to encourage you to dream a little. Take a few minutes to envision your book, on the shelf, your name boldly printed on the front cover. What does it look like? What is the story you must tell that will bear your name as the storyteller?
If you’re like me, sometimes the best way to keep a dream alive is to write it down. Now is the perfect time to sit down and think through what you want to accomplish as a writer, and then write it out and keep it somewhere close.
Book writing is hard, folks. There is nothing easy about it. Even if writing comes easily to you, the act of organizing an idea from beginning to end, and writing it in a way that is coherent and readable, is not an easy road traveled. You have to keep the end goal in mind. You must know why you’re writing your book, and you need to articulate the reason your story is important for you.
My hope is that those of you who were interested in this topic leave with enough information and encouragement to see your dream of publication come true. And for those of you who have no aspirations to publish (and who stuck with me to the very end), I hope you have a greater appreciation for all that goes into the books you hold in your hands.
So what is your dream, my writer friends? What is the thing you long to accomplish when you think of your passion for the written word?
What’s holding you back from making your dream come true?
You can be certain to have a cheerleader in me. I love to see people’s dreams come true, so I’ll be here every step of the way cheering you on. If you’d like to contact me with any questions about publication, or if you just want to share your dream with someone who will appreciate and support it, please feel free to shoot me an email. I’d love to hear from you! (kellistuart00 at hotmail dot com).
