I think it would be rare to find a mother anywhere who has not forgotten her child at least once in their lifetime. Unfortunately for me, it was several times with Zach. The 1 hr. early dismissals on Wednesdays bout did me in! Herb and I both have forgotten the grandkids a time or two. We have a very forgiving daughter-in-law here in town, and a very smart one. She now calls us if we are responsible for picking them up, and I have noticed this year we are not being asked to pick them up very often. Wonder why? The sick feeling in the stomach takes longer to go away when it’s the grandkids! Yuk!
Tell Sloan his Bebe has done the same thing.

The first two weeks Ian was in Kindergarten in Ballwin we were still living in Downtown STL. I ran errands while he was in school and picked him up promptly at 11:35 when school was over. After almost two weeks Ian came out to the car with a note that said, “Mrs. James, Please promptly pick up your child when school dismisses at 11:25. I cannot continue waiting for you everyday and it’s unsafe to let him wait alone.” I felt like such a heel and understand how you feel. It’s the little things …. Hope you guys are doing great!

Sounds like we have had the same kind of day! I got to AnnaKate’s Mother’s Tea at her preschool after it was already over and missed the entire Mother Goose program that she has been practicing for. All of the kids were having lemonade and cookies with their moms, and AnnaKate was sitting with her teacher. I felt terrible for AnnaKate and sad that I missed seeing her little program. I knew it was 1 o’clock, but for some reason today I thought it was 2 o’clock. I am wondering when the sick feeling in my stomach will go away? No Mom of the Year award for me!
