Are these the Jim and Betty Cooper who had a daughter named Joy? Joy Cooper and I were friends in Miami, Florida when I was in elementary school. They were either home on furlough or something . . . it was a long time ago :-) Anyway, I just wondered if perhaps Joy was your aunt?

That Christmas is forever etched in my mind. We thought we were not going to get to go home for Christmas. When we landed in South Caicos, daddy got off the plane first and we watched him kiss mom and tell her he forgot something on the plane. He came back and got us and she jumped up and down and laughed and cried. There are no gifts to ever match with that. To see my mom and 2 little sisters was all I needed.

Your grandparents were great people. And you and your mom possess a piece of their greatness. It is in your blood. I can feel the emotions of your Granny through those extracts of a diary - her dissapointment, her fear and her everlasting faith. Her plead for being made more patient and thankful made me think. There are different seasons in life. And what we need to go through them is patience and thankfulness for everything.
The last part of the story made me cry as well. Oh, I just imagine her feelings, trembling hands, tears of that great happiness when she saw her dear children. We can definitely appreciate them after having our own kids.

I'm sure this has already passed your mind. Amazing story, Yes, definately a leap of faith to let your kids fly off with a complete stranger.
